Maria Lewis
Expert in Intercultural Communication and Integration
Hi, I’m Maria Lewis, a German-Australian with a deep understanding of the challenges that come with starting fresh in a new country. Having lived in Germany, Denmark, and Australia and being married to a South African, I have firsthand experience navigating intercultural environments.
During my bachelor’s studies, I specialized in intercultural communication, European culture, identity, and business communication. Afterward, I spent nearly four years as a flight attendant, working daily in international settings. Later, as a recruiter, I closely supported international candidates to adjust to life in Germany, gaining a deep appreciation for their challenges and resilience.
Integration and intercultural communication have been central themes throughout my personal and professional journey. They continue to inspire my work in helping others thrive in new cultural landscapes.

Does This Sound Familiar...?
You’re at a meeting at work. You’ve been preparing what to say in German all day, but as the conversation flows quickly around you, it’s hard to follow. When you do try to speak, you stumble over a word, and someone chuckles quietly. They don’t mean to hurt your feelings, but your confidence takes a hit.
Moments like these stick with you, and suddenly, everyday situations feel like a test you’re always failing. Even when you try your best, it feels like you’ll never fully fit in or be understood.
I understand how discouraging this can be. When I lived in Denmark and Australia, I faced similar moments—times when I felt out of place, unsure of myself, and doubted whether I could ever truly belong. Even returning to Germany after years abroad came with its own challenges.
But here’s what I’ve learned: It’s not about being perfect. It’s about building confidence, learning to navigate cultural differences with ease, and creating a life that feels like home. And you don’t have to do this alone.
